World Food Day was established by FAO member countries at the 20th general conference in November 1979. Delegation of the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Dr. Pal Romany important role in the conference and proposed the idea of the celebration of World Food Day. This has been observed every year in more than 150 countries, increase awareness of the problem of poverty and hunger.
Since 1981, the World Food Day celebrations adopt a variety of themes for each year with the aim of emphasizing the important part of the food world that require special attention.
Food security most often a theme in celebration of World Food Day. This is important because food security reflect the average individual’s ability to obtain food and availability. Even this is discussed in the summit meeting of world regarding the proposed food security FAO director-General Jacques Diouf.
